You should also provide them with entertainment like a new activity, game, or toy. These don’t need to be expensive, and some are even free. Though things may appear to be fine, you should always schedule regular medical checkups for your feline pet. Cats need vaccinations to keep them healthy, and your vet can keep an eye out for any other health issues. If you can, stick with one vet for your cat’s entire life. This also allows the vet to become more familiar with your cat’s unique health needs and personality.
A heated tile for underneath your cat’s bed can provide real comfort. A terra cotta tile about a foot square is ideal. You can warm it with a 15-20 minute stop in your oven, set to approximately 200 degrees. Place it in an older towel and place it underneath of the feline’s bed. If necessary, repeat this every few hours.
If your cat is female, you need to get it spayed at the proper age. Even if you own an indoor cat, it might produce many kittens if it escapes during mating season. Spaying the feline is really the optimal way of dealing with this.
You should not use products designed for other animals. They can have very strong and possibly negative reactions to dog products. Consider all the options before you let your cat be an outdoors cat. It might not be safe for your cat to go outdoors. Cats can become infected with fleas, ticks and ringworm. Your cat may be targeted by another animal, or get injured by a vehicle or another person. If you still insist your cat be able to go outside, then do so in the fenced backyard.
